Save Files are named differently than before making old save files invalid #56

fedora 7 - 32-bit - svn (04/16/08)

The names used for save files is different than previous versions.
Example:
SUPER MARIO 64 (unknown rom).eep - Now (svn 04/16/08)
Super Mario 64 (U) [!].eep - Previously (svn 02/26/08)

The change in the naming of save files has rendered all of my existing
save files void.

This is affecting more than just Super Mario 64, I have noted it in
Perfect Dark and Harvest Moon.

I believe this is a side effect of the gui/nogui merge. The (unknown rom) name
came
from the fact that a match for the rom was not found in the mupen64plus.ini.
Prior to
the gui/nogui merge, apparently the rom was found in the ini file on your
system.
This explains the difference in filenaming.

During the merge, I found that the nogui version did not load the ini file at
all,
but the gui version did. I put a TODO in the code to come back to it later.
I'll use
this issue to track reviewing the ini file code and making sure it runs as it
was
intended to run before the merge.

Thanks for the bug report. I'll set this to high priority since it's directly
impacting users.

The suspected problem matches my experience. I run Mupen without a gui (except
for
configuring the plugin). Previously _nogui, now --nogui.

This might have something to do with the Unknown Rom bug

Is this bug valid?

This is a feature not a bug. You'll have to rename your important savefiles to
use
the new names.
