738 - no company should have a permanent seat on the JCP. JCP participation is not mandatory; if the JCP is not working for a company, they can exit the JCP. That, and an ability to fork Java, provide very strong incentives to members to work to keep JCP Java the best it can be, and highly competitive with respect to other platforms.
