Generating two forms of px2sg.dat #34

Open jonorthwash opened 4 years ago

jonorthwash commented 4 years ago

Currently apertium-chv generates two forms of some words with <px2sg><dat>, e.g.

^алӑк<n><px2sg><dat>$ ↬ алӑкуна/алӑкна

If both of these are correct, we need to chose which one to generate (my inclination would be to go with the former, since it will be distinct from px3sp.dat in many situations). If only one is correct, which is it?

Possessive suffixes (except, of course, px3sp for isafet) are not used at all in current Chuvash except for family names (father, mother, etc.), poetry and a few uses in slogans (Шупашкарӑм, my Shupashkar). So the informants were very hesitant about what the correct forms should be. In our "dictionary" there are three words that can serve as a model: вӑкӑр, чӗрӗп and супӑнь. According to the first two, only алӑкна would be correct, but according to the third this would be the preferable form and алӑкуна could be considered as acceptable.
