what's needed for a new release? #57

I would like to resolve #17, #34, and #50 and then I think it will be at a reasonable release point.

My aim was to manage full parity between RTX and TRX, but #17 and #34 require more thought as to how best to actually implement them, so I'm pushing those until later and I will call this done when I finish #59.

Well, if deleting half the todo list counts as finishing it, then I've finished everything on the todo list for release. :)
