$cordovaPreferences.fetch failing in KitKat - Huawei Honor

Issue: "01-03 07:44:55.855 26532-26532/com.ionicframework.XXXXXXXXX I/chromium: [INFO:CONSOLE(112)] "Uncaught TypeError: undefined is not a function", source: file:///androidasset/www/plugins/cordova-plugin-app-preferences/www/apppreferences.js (112)"____ I added the ngCordova App Preferences Plugin in my Ionic V 1 app and found it working across multiple kitkat phones but it is not working in Huawei Honor 6 - Kitkat version of the Phone by throwing the above error.Could you please help ?. This happens when i am trying to call $cordovaPreferences.fetch function very initially to check whether a variable value is present or not.

We have a Samsung SM-T320 device that is doing the same thing. Android 4.4.2

I just ran into the exact same problem with a Galaxy Tab 3 running Android 4.4.2
