This is an affine transformation thing, I think. We'll need to add a translation to get the corresponding voxel under the FOV center.

do you have an intuition for whether zooming to the mouse or zooming to the center of the current window is better? I think Google Maps is mouse centered but I know a lot of other apps are window centered
