Would you consider building a *portable* version of transmission-remote-
dotnet for PortableApps (http://portableapps.com/)?

You can make a portable build. Follow the instruction in BuildSource wiki:
http://code.google.com/p/transmission-remote-dotnet/wiki/BuildSource

This build is using the filestorage (settings.json) to save the settings.

How about being a little more explicit in this regard? For starters, where 
would I 
get the source files from please? 'Been lookin all over on this webpage: 
http://transmission-remote-dotnet.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/TransmissionClientNew
/, 
and I am not sure which ones are the source files.

have a look to http://tortoisesvn.net/downloads

to build from source u need the whole TransmissionClientNew folder

one way is, to install tortoise and safe the svn locale, then open ur command 
line
and switch to the folder "TransmissionClientNew". In the next step run
"%Windir%\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v3.5\MSBuild.exe /t:Rebuild
/p:Configuration=Release /p:DefineConstants=PORTABLE" and you will find the 
Portable
build in and subfolder called release.

nothing more

really simply, when you have the right codepage and the right .NET Framework.

See attached the PortableApps.com Installer. In order to use this one however, 
the
application should be formatted in the PortableApps.com format (see here:
http://portableapps.com/development/portableapps.com_format#installer).

If someone is making the necessary files, i will add to repo, and generate PA

I'm configured my build system, to make a "portable" installer: is't using file 
based settings.

You can download from here:

(transmission-remote-dotnet-portable_*-installer.exe)

Many thanks for the portable version! One suggestion: is it possible to make it 
so that the configuration files (settings.json?) end up in a different folder 
than the rest of the files?
