Re: Why "Window" and not "Modal" Window is probably not the right word .. some version of Menu is probably more correct.

The designs for 3.0 have these little menus that appear contextually when interacting with certain UI. This concept is separate from the larger 'modal' UI transition. I wanted to borrow from the modal component and try building them

Apple's Human Interface Guidelines calls the above examples 'contextual menus` and separates that from 'dock menus' (Menus that come directly off another piece of UI, like File > New Tab).

This implementation acts more like a dock menu but I'd want to work towards a real contextual system for 3.0. We also have the need for something akin to dock menus elsewhere.
