In Terminal 'Cmd + T' by default opens a new tab at the same working directory as the current tab. After installing dotfiles it opens a new tab at ~.
Opening a tab at ~ is actually the default functionality. This is an iTerm configuration setting that you can configure at Profiles => General => Working Directory => Advanced Configuration.
