Not working in IE 8 #3

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Load geolocate.html

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

I expect a location (or a clean indication that the location could not be 
found). Instead I get a javascript error:
'google.gears.factory' is null or not an object - http://gmaps-samples-
v3.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/geolocate/geometa.js - 63

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

trunk, IE8, Win7
