appdotnet / terms-of-service

The App.net terms of service documents live here. To facilitate transparent discussion, we encourage users to create issues and/or submit pull requests with your feedback. Our general process is to incorporate user feedback on a roughly quarterly basis based on review with our legal team, but in the early stages this may occur significantly more often.

Personal information should be deletable upon account termination #17

If a user decides to terminate their account, they should be able to request that all personal information with the exception of billing records be deleted, subject to the standard time period caveats for deletion of information.

This should be noted in a separate section of both the ToS and privacy policy.

(This should also be an option if an account is terminated for cause.)

+1.

Related, from the discussion at https://github.com/appdotnet/api-spec/issues/71, if a user's subscription lapses, I do not think that any of their data or posts should be removed. They just shouldn't be able to make new posts or use certain services (authorize apps?) depending upon what is ultimately possible to do for free. I posted more details on this at that link.

No, I think this should be an explicit request, but the user should retain the right to make the request and have it honored.
