When I'm thinking about it now, it's pretty obvious, but it took me about one week to figure out why LDAP authentication did not work (now it does) :

I run CalendarServer-4.2 using the LDAP-DirectoryService with authMethod=LDAP. I was never able to authenticate until I found out that I had to disable "Digest" and enable "Basic" Authentication in caldav.plist.

I think it would be very helpful, if this was mentioned at least in https://trac.calendarserver.org/wiki/ConfiguringLDAP.
