Hi, I can't dedrm ebooks from barnes and noble. I have installed the DeDRM 6.6.1 plugin to Calibre 64-bit version 3.32.0. I also customized the plugin to retrieve and store my generated key for barnes and noble ebooks. Since I have the windows 10 nook app in my computer, I took the epub nook files from this location: C:\Users\"username"\AppData\Local\Packages\BarnesNoble.Nook_ahnzqzva31enc\LocalState I don't know if I'm doing something wrong. Please help.

You might have better luck with the old Nook for PC program:

Unfortunately, I can't download the files that I want from Nook for PC. A message always appears saying "This title is currently not available for download for this application. (Download: 2138)". Maybe there's another method?

If it's a pdf, I don't know of any way to remove the DRM.

If it's a comic, part of its DRM is stored in a separate database. It takes some work to get it DRM-free, and some more work to make it readable outside a nook app.

Here's a comment where I explain how to do it:

One additional note...if your rights.xml file has a "permissions" section, just delete everything from the opening to the closing permission tags.

It's not working for me, even if I delete the permissions section. At least the DRM message in calibre it's not showing anymore but I can't open the final epub file. Also, the images in the uncompressed file are not displaying at all. I guess I'll just buy from kobo from now on.

The epub should be readable in a Nook app. In that comment, I also talk about taking out the images and making it into a cbz.

ghost commented 6 years ago

I made it into a cbz. It doesn't show anything. (╥_╥) Thank you very much for your help anyways.

Can you read the DRM-free epub in a Nook app? And what do the page image files look like when you unzip the epub?

ghost commented 6 years ago

No, I can't. This shows up on the windows app:

And on nook for pc this, once I added it to my stuff and try to read it:

The images look like this:

Ugh...I assume it looks fine before DRM is removed? Don't know what the issue could be.

I've been sticking with Amazon/Comixology for comics lately. A lot of them are from Image which are DRM-free to begin with. But others can be freed with DeDRM or Comic Backup. I've also had good luck with Google Play in the past. Those can sometimes be downloaded in either epub or pdf. And both can be DeDRMed if needed. Although it's been a while since I've gotten anything there.
