4 years ago upon some additional investigation I believe the problem happens when you exceed a (unknown) number of targets. working with it on the ground I'm only receiving 5 targets and any rescaling of the screen produces the correct results. Airborne with more targets causes the problem when resizing.
If my suspicions are correct wouldn't it make sense to reduce the number of targets tracked? maybe reduce the range, ie if they are more than 15 miles away drop them from tracking.
If you change your zoom level on any chart some or all traffic as well as the WX tags showing current WX reports will disappear from the screen, By resizing the screen (zoom in/out) traffic and wx indicators will reappear and disappear.
I've found the behavior to be very consistent across different devices. The traffic filtering for ADS-B traffic has no effect on the traffic disappearing from view.
