Summary

This enhancement involves integrating PostgreSQL as a viable alternative to MongoDB for Appsmith's internal database management.

Why

In our ongoing efforts to make Appsmith the preferred internal tool-building platform for organizations, it's become evident that many large enterprises heavily rely on SQL-based databases, particularly PostgreSQL. These organizations often have established infrastructure and deep expertise in managing PostgreSQL databases, in contrast to MongoDB, which may be less familiar to them.

Compatibility with Enterprise Standards: Large organizations frequently utilize PostgreSQL, valuing its robustness, reliability, and SQL compliance. Skillset Availability: There is a widespread availability of database administrators and developers proficient in PostgreSQL within these organizations, unlike MongoDB, which might require additional training and resource allocation. Operational Consistency: Integrating PostgreSQL support would allow these enterprises to maintain a consistent database management approach across their tools and platforms, streamlining operations and reducing the learning curve.

looking forward to this feature! is there an ETA on this as this is preventing my company from using Appsmith since we don't have a mongodb support.

@azai91 it's scheduled to launch in October. We're opening a beta for some customers in August. If you're interested in being a part of that, we'd be happy to give you early access
