Improve controller debug trace. #19

  1. The debug trace has diverged a lot from the CLI trace. Should they be made more similar
  2. Controller outputs a large volume of trace. Is it all needed.
  3. The controller test bucket is heavily dependent on trace output. Changes may break the test cases.
