Nic I like - I really like the framework that you all are using for this app. I think it’s really powerful, and if you’re able to integrate the map component, then it will be basically complete. I think there’s a lot of useful features that come with the framework, like an admin panel, so that will save you a lot of development time.
I wish - It’s hard to give feedback on this milestone since we didn’t actually get to see your prototype, but going off the mental image of your app that I have in my head, I hope that entering locations is a very user friendly process. For example, for a trip, if I’ve been to San Diego, Los Angeles, Seattle, and San Francisco, there’s so many routes that I could have taken to get to these four locations, so hopefully the trip map will accurately reflect the route I took.
Ashkon: I really like the idea about having a travel blog website. For me personally before I go on trips I like to look at other people's trips/what they did and felt about the locations. The website framework looks really good for a completed product in the end.
I wish - that the map functionality was a little bit more clear. Since currently the main blog part is taken care of it would be really nice to have the map functionality be clear. That way we could get a clear understanding of what it looks like to search for blog posts in a specific city. I also wish that based on my posts users can comment about places they think I would enjoy traveling to. That way by contributing to the website I can also seek to get feedback on potential places of travel.
Joseph: I like the idea of a website dedicated to travel blogs. I like reading about other people’s experiences after I have been somewhere so it would be nice to have a place just for that. Using postleaf is a good idea since it makes the platform look really nice.
I wish the user could interact with a map to view blogs in that area. It would be a nice way to visualize what is being filtered. It would be also cool if there is a convenient way to input where the user had been on the trip. For example, parse the post and create tags on its own.
Anish: I like: I like the look and feel of the application. It looks professional while also very easy to use. This template format of making the blog really makes it simpler for people to quickly add to their travel blog.
I wish: I wish there was a way to integrate the travelling and map functionality more into the blog. That way, rather than having people add to their blogs after they return, they can add and update their travel blogs quickly and easily while on the go. Maybe make it really easy and have higher integration on mobile while still being a website. Also, a possible functionality could be that when someone posts a picture, it is automatically tagged with either the location that the picture was taken, or the location from where the picture was uploaded.
Andrew Fancett I like how you tied the blog locations to pins on the map. The color coding of the pins really helps distinguish them on the map and in the blog post itself. I wish: I hope it will tie all the info from the blog on that location included in the pin. Also maybe you can include the users pictures there on the map that can be click to expand to not clutter the blog post with a ton of photos.
Cynthia Hong I like the idea of being able to filter by the different tags. This allows me to easy find specific things if I am looking for something in the location. The blog framework you are using is very clean. I wish you can map out like the activities on the blog post onto the map too. This makes it easier for user to learn more about the trip.
Drew Bartleman I'm not sure what location cards are, but inserting them inline into a blog post seems cool. Having them in order on the right is very well done, so you can see a chronological array of locations. The average user might not go to many locations, so it would be beneficial to also include the routes one took as location cards (if I'm understanding the cards correctly). Well done
Tyler Sorensen I like: It's a very interesting way to represent a trip. I like the vertically split layout in your md8. I wish: Ability to add photos/media tied to the specific pins on the map would be cool. Also although the class revolves around using maps I would try to allow the map to blend more into the background or at least not be the main focus, but let the writing shine.
