I would say this is an important issue. The feedback I received from the lead developer that worked on this solution (he joined the project late) was as follows:
“The whole code needs to be refactored and structured".
It's possible that junior developers initially worked on the code.
Perhaps time should be taken to do a review of the code and structure as a starting point.
