Minor issue, but anyway. :)

"Players may count cards in Decks and Supply piles and may look at cards in 
Trash." - from the rules of Dominion

That's a good point.  This is a minor issue now, but future cards might give 
more of a reason to look in the trash.  That said, I wouldn't want to sacrifice 
any UI space for it.  Perhaps the trash could be added to a zone similar to the 
Native Village and Island playmat zones.  Another alternative would be to view 
the trash via a menu.

Minor issue indeed. Maybe all "other things" like native village mat, island 
mat could be in a different screen which could be called with "slide left". 
Just a proposal though...

This will probably be very relevant with the next expansion. From the 
description on BGG:
"There are cards that do something when trashed, cards that care about the 
trash, cards that upgrade themselves, and ways to upgrade other cards."
