Bug with \mathlarger #1515

Description

The \mathlarger command from the "relsize" package sometimes seems to apply to more than one character, i.e. it seems to behave like e.g. \bfseries while it should work like \textbf. The screenshot below was produced with

\Pi_{lm} = \prod_{k=1}^l \left[ k^2 \, \mathlarger(1 - a_*^2\mathlarger) + \mathlarger(m a_* - 2 r_+ \mu \mathlarger)^2  \right]
