Unclear rendering of latex prime symbol #1555

Description

The prime symbol (latex: \prime or ') renders as a small oblique line some distance above \tau{2H} in this example, making it difficult for the reader to distinguish between \tau'{2H} and \tau_{2H}. Attached images show the html and latex render for comparison.
