[BUG] Unable to calibrate "W" letter in Portuguese #175

Open ZenurikSD opened 6 months ago

ZenurikSD commented 6 months ago

Almost all portuguese words that contain W somewhere are borrowed words from other languages (english especially) or proper nouns. It seems that the test data doesn't include those so only the letter "W" is displayed, and no matter how many times I repeat the test, it never gathers enough data to calibrate so it's impossible to advance.

Suggestion: Include words and names with W commonly used in Portuguese. Also see this for some explanation

A similar issue was reported for the French language, so this situation is not unique. If you look at the Language class, you will see that quite often the alphabet property either omits some Latin letters or includes new ones. So far our strategy was to use only the common letters of an alphabet of a language. And if you want to practice the full Latin alphabet, then the workaround is to switch to the English language.

While I have your attention, may I ask you as a native speaker to review the Portuguese word list? This list was generated from movie subtitles. The problem is that there are quite a lot of profane and vulgar words in the movies, so the list must be manually reviewed and censored. I myself already searched for a list of bad words to be removed, but this list is incomplete. The whole Portuguese word list contains 10000 words, but it is enough to review only the first two or three thousands.

Then I'll update the website with the reviewed word list and it will make this bug disappear.

Thanks!

I can have a look at that list (I am also a portuguese native speaker). I have translated 100% keybr.com to Portuguese (pt). Will github automatically fetch the complete translation (from poeditor) or should I provide the exported .json file ?

Oh, thanks a lot for translating it!

You don't have to do anything else, I will export the translated messages from POEditor to keybr myself. I hope to complete this task in a couple of hours.
