Request for Nest membership and funding (#13)
Team name: ScalingNOW!
Proof of concept / research whitepaper: Ethereum is dealing with major scaling issues, and Giveth has settled on a stop-gap solution for our own DApp as outlined here.
However, this is a temporary fix—we are dedicated to decentralization, and this is a very centralized approach.
The long-term solution to the scaling issue is Sharding, which is likely to come to the Ethereum blockchain in 2019 or 2020. However, we need #ScalingNOW! Since we are going to do the research anyway, we feel it would be valuable to the community at large if we put extra effort into documenting and distributing our findings in a very digestible way, to save the other Ethereum DApp dev teams time and effort.
We are planning on culminating this research at an invite-only gathering in Barcelona on March 6th, conveniently before the ETHCC in Paris on March 8th. This will be a “donation” based gathering that will be run transparently on the Giveth platform. The targeted participants will need to have a DApp they plan on launching this year to the Ethereum network or be actively building a scaling solution.
Burn rate: We want to do 10+ interviews and the estimated cost to Giveth Development will be about 0.5 ETH/interview. These funds will compensate Giveth for the time spent documenting our thorough research, which would have otherwise been spent implementing the solution which works for us. The funds will also be used to compensate collaborators.
Conference costs have yet to be determined, but all conference costs will be transparently recorded via a Giveth campaign and can potentially be funded by donations from the participants. All ETH accounting will be done using the ScalingNOW! Giveth campaign, ensuring full transparency. We just ask for sponsorship directly through the platform.

ScalingNOW! will quickly consolidate and distribute all the information DApp teams need on various scaling solutions, enabling DApp teams to cut research time and focus on development. ScalingNOW! will accomplish this by completing the following:
The interviews will be conducted in January and February of 2018. The interviews will be livestreamed on YouTube. Information from the interviews will then be consolidated and shared on Medium.

The free ScalingNow! conference will be held in Barcelona on March 6, 2018. The conference will feature the scaling experts interviewed, allowing for deeper exploration on what was discussed in the interviews.
All ScalingNOW! posts will actively distributed to the larger DApp development community by sharing the Medium posts to Twitter and relevant Reddit and Telegram communities.
By funding ScalingNOW!, Aragon Nest will help DApp teams quickly find the best scaling solution for their project and thus propel the entire DApp ecosystem forward. :rocket:
