aragonOS-compatible encrypted datastore

Abstract

Aragon DAOs should be able to have datastores that can be shared with third party members and can also have granular read/write permissions for each member. This would basically be a DAO-controlled filesystem by using the aragonOS ACL.

Deliverables

  1. A way to encrypt IPFS data with secrets stored using Keep
  2. An architecture to build a shared datastore
  3. A set of aragonOS-compatible smart contracts to share read/write access to each file inside the datastore with each participating member in the datastore

Grant size

Funding: from $50k up to $100k in ETH, split into chunks paid out over achieved deliverables.

Success reward: Up to $50k in ANT, given out when all deliverables are ready.

Application requirements

Development timeline

3 to 4 quarters.

This would solve one of the problems that we will address in our future healthcare project over Aragon. We (@fcolavecchia and I) are analyzing this feature in our WP (hopefully will be ready soon)...

fcolavecchia commented 6 years ago

As @renexdev said, we are very interested in this proposal.

cpurta commented 6 years ago

Quite interested to see where this goes. I have been toying around with the idea of a decentralized docker hub recently. Seems like this could be a viable way to implement such a thing.

We hopely will re launch the discussion at #usercases channel next week so when u guys return from hackathon at denver (I've already got the livestreaming ticket.. hope to participate in other time) we can move forward with the topic (and new related ones) =)

ghiliweld commented 6 years ago

@luisivan @izqui Are you guys looking for something like this by any chance? I've also been looking into blockchain based datastores that are still cheap. It's still just a proof of concept but I could modify it to fulfill the features you need. Has #34 already solved the problem or are you still reviewing applications for this issue?

luisivan commented 6 years ago

Looping in @mariapao so she can take a look @ghiliweld

mariapao commented 6 years ago

@ghiliweld: kind of. we are still reviewing applications for this issue so feel free to modify your PoC according to the features we need. Keep in mind that we are open to different approaches.

As this proposal hasn't received any love in the past 6 months I will close it. Moreover it looks like our dear @macor161 has been filling it with Espresso.
