Aragon Nest Proposal: Cryptonative Aragon Chat Interface

Abstract

Abridged aims to build a seamless interface for web3 technology. We are a team excited about helping make usable products today. Specifically, we want to enable things like seamless user onboarding and increasing the utility of the 2nd layer solutions available on mainnet. We are an open source first team bridging the technology of web3 with the UX of web2.

The core product is an SDK and CLI that contains the best design solutions for application development today. On top of this foundation, we plan to build a developer community workspace around robust L2 product data.

The full development suite will include an SDK with essential web3 integrations (Web2 Onboarding Interface, Scalability Solutions, Fiat OnRamp, Fiat OffRamp) and a CLI to provide intuitive shortcuts to interact with these integrations.

Our product MVP consists of a Rocketchat based community management tool. It’s a web3 chat with a web2-like interface that includes features such as:

We would love to create a unique instance of this product to provide for the Aragon community.

Deliverables

Full integration of the AbridgeChat into the Aragon OS including:

Bonus: Looking into the feasability of providing a feature asked for in this grant request

  1. An aragonOS-compatible application (the discussion platform) that lets people discuss and forwards an action to another app (for example the voting app) if a given amount of discussion has happened.

Grant size

Up to $150K ETH with a success reward of up to $30K ANT

James Young (Development) AdChain, SpankChain, Farmville James Young comes from an extensive career as a full stack media and gaming designer in web2. Since launching into web3 he was involved in developing the first TCR design with Adchain and then the first payment channel implementation for Spankchain. He has a strong intuition for UX and devX solutions and began building a contract wallet inspired by Universal Logins last August. LinkedIn Medium Twitter

Eric Chung (Product) DApper Network, USC Solidity Lecturer, LA Blockchain Labs Eric Chung began buidling in 2016 by teaching himself solidity and launching a blockchain club at UCLA. Since then he has been invested in teaching smart contract design through a national bootcamp series called DApper Network. He was asked to come on as a Smart Contract lecturer at USC and is involved in the LA Blockchain Labs, a group dedicated to blockchain education and smart city design. Eric began developing the idea of Abridged with James in early 2019 and loves executing on product design and management. LinkedIn Medium Twitter

James Duncan (Operations) Ethereum Foundation, DAO Incubator, Trojan Foundation, dGov James comes with a degree in Earth Science and a background in the energy industry. He developed a deep appreciation for the Ethereum ecosystem in his time building the EF Grants program. Today he's interested in building with teams shipping products and finding a sustainable financial model for open source development. He likes thinking about DAO architecture. Hey there,

Thanks for the proposal here and really appreciate your interest for Aragon Nest.

Questions/remarks:

Note: the funding requirements you provide here are not within the limits specified there. Also the monthly burn rate is way above what Nest is used to do.

Thanks!

Hi Louis,

Thanks for your follow up. We are excited by the opportunity to build something valuable for the Aragon community.

In reply to your remarks:

I adjusted the ask to fit the boundaries of the program.

Please reach out with any other questions. We will be in NY if you or your team would like to discuss in person.

Cheers!

Hey there,

Thanks a lot for the info and detailed answer! Interesting to see your straightforward approach to solving Ethereum UX problems (cf. Medium posts). We’re not currently looking for such a solution but it is certainly something we’ll dig into in the medium/long term as collaboration tools around DAOs are so important. We’d be curious to see what your MVP and codebase look like when they are live.

Also, referring to the roadmap items you mention here: they are being addressed by Flock teams in one way or another (mostly by Autark for those you mention). If you want, you can ask for feedback on your ideas on the forum and dig into their current work to check where your solution could add significant synergies and value.

For now I am going to close the proposal as it is not mature enough.

We’d be happy to see you around in the community!

Hi Louis,

Thanks for your response and understand your reasoning.

Would you mind sending me an email so I can provide some more color on the work we are doing? Or put me in touch with a dev team member interested in exploring?
