Hey there,
Thanks for your interest in Aragon!
While we highly welcome apps bridging external projects, funding integrations with standalone (private) solutions isn't really the vocation of the Nest program. As a result we will close this proposal for now but remain available to discuss.
Hi, We've taken sometime to review your response and realized that we could be clearer. To that end, here is a clearer description of what we're thinking - hope this problem resonates and our approach makes sense! In addition I've responded to your questions below.
We believe decentralized governance is the future But it can be intimidating to participate Without education (and a bit of hand-holding), we run the risk of letting only the most engaged users dictate the terms of decision-making on DAOs
We want to create the tool that makes education intrinsic to governance on Aragon We’re proposing a new app on AragonOS - a “Learning” tab that integrates with the Voting app There are three types of users who will participate in the Learning app Voters are the consumers of the educational content. In some cases, they may be required to complete a training module or pass a certification before they can participate in a certain function of the DAO Admins are the users with administrative or leadership status in the DAO. They decide what educational content is linked with the DAO and they may set requirements for participating in certain elements of the DAO. In some cases, the admin function may be managed by the group (votes on an AragonDAO) and won’t be centralized
These third party users provide the educational content and certification modules for the app. They can be a blockchain specialist, a YouTube creator with a passion for decentralized governance, or a blockchain education company (like Herd). Over time, we expect higher quality providers to rise to the surface as more DAOs option for the higher quality educational content and training. We imagine that standards for participating in DAOs will start to be set as the community grows (e.g. Herd’s Basic Governance Module is the standard for on-boarding a user on to a DAO).
Would the Aragon app be an integration of herd.app into Aragon DAOs?
Overall, it is not very clear what would happen on-chain and what actions and data would be hosted by Herd? It looks like most computation and data would be hosted on Herd’s side and then synced to Aragon through smart contracts?
Is Herd open-source?
What identity system do you plan to use to track user’s progression?: Our architecture model creates a library object that tracks addresses, and relevant data on-chain to make it immediately usable for Aragon and other dApps.
Hey @CodeSlip,
Thanks for these clarifications. Let us have a second look to what you are proposing here and come back to you shortly!
Good to hear @LouisGrx. Myself, @michaelcohen716 & @tiffanymarroq will look for your response soon.
Hey there,
We've been studying the proposal more in depth internally. We have concluded that the Learning App is not a priority for the Nest program right now. We currently have no demand for such a tool and want to avoid adding complexity to Aragon DAOs, therefore, this is not part of the near term priorities for Nest. For these reasons we are going to close this proposal.
Thank you very much for your initiative here, we really appreciate it and we hope to see you around in the Aragon community!
Thank you for reviewing our proposal. Good luck with the rest of the Nest Program.
Abstract
Decentralized governance is the future, but it won’t be possible without education. We want to do our part by building a Learning Management System (LMS) for aragonOS to make it easier for users to onboard and participate within the DAO ecosystem. The LMS will enable DAOs to create education modules, deliver training, and meet compliance requirements directly within aragonOS.
Additional Details
The more we can reduce friction for users to learn and build with Aragon, the faster the ecosystem will grow and the sooner we’ll be able to realize a robust, decentralized future. We believe the educational tools and processes in place can be improved, gamified, and managed at scale in a way that wasn’t previously possible. More specifically, we want to develop the de-facto standard for learning how to participate in a DAO that also measures success programmatically and provides on-chain accreditation. The end result is a Learning tab on the Aragon Home App, configured for the Democracy Organization and participants of that Democracy Organization that allows the organization to offer learning content and set educational requirements to participate in organizational decision making.
Deliverables
D1: Utilize our LMS project (https://getherd.app) to bundle lessons (learning content + comprehension tests) and connection details (API key & DAO key) to export to aragonOS. D2: Create an aragonOS app (Aragon Learning) and utilize on-chain identity to display organization/user specific lessons, submit responses, and track progress. D3: AragonOS-compatible smart contracts that enables DAO participants to migrate completion data on-chain to be accessed by aragonOS and other dApps.
