What are the main roles of each team member?

Please see above.

Has the team already worked together? (please provide details)

The team was formed on September 28th/29th at the Hacktothemoon Hackathon sponsored by Binance where we won our track with the idea of CrowdClick. In November we were given a $8.5K grant from Matic Network to build our product on their infrastructure for the use of ETH in CC. Our team has known each other for a while as we have been working in the blockchain scene for 3 years and we are all located in Prague, CZ. The hackathon was what brought us all together for the first time, and we have been working on the project since.

Is your team already present on the Aragon Forum? If Yes, what are your usernames?

Progress

How far along are you?

We have developed the usability part fo the product. This includes:

Next step we are working on is connecting the smart contract to our frontend on Test net, followed by Main net.

Is anyone using your product/application?

Currently, we only have testing users and are beginning to recruit publishing partners. We are partners with both Matic Network & Crowdholding.com who will be promoting our product within their community of businesses and users.

If yes, How many active users do you have and what kind of feedback have you received?

If you've applied previously with the same idea, how much progress have you made since the last time you applied? What has changed?

This is our first time applying.

Idea Problem

Why did you pick this idea to work on? Do you have domain expertise in this area?

Ethan is CEO of crowdholding.com which helped discover CrowdClick's use case. In addition, we are a second-mover advantage to a successful concept done by dogeclick.com. More information about our competitors in the competition section.

Our team has worked in the blockchain scene for 3 years and has vast experience in identifying Dapp use cases.

What's new about what you're making? What do people resort to because it doesn't exist yet (or they don't know about it)?

Problem:

The invention of the 90’s PPC model has been with us for a long time. And during this time, the same concept remains. A publisher pays for a click, that’s it. This model has brought hackable solutions in the recent era, leaving a lack of attention from user that resorts to dead traffic.

In addition, a need to find many people to help test or give feedback has been a difficult issue for projects. Quality Assurance with capital is often spent on internal testing. But are these their users? How can we recruit hundreds or even thousands of people instantly to test? Here at CrowdClick, we have discovered a new model.

Solution:

We call our model, Pay Per Attention or PPA. The model brings traffic to the URL owner, then follows with a question for direct feedback or education. Our system produces cognitive brand recognition, discovery of user interests, and carefully planned Quality Assurance (QA) measures for the URL owner. The most important aspect of this model is it’s all done on the publisher’s website. And the publisher asks a question they want to know.

The user gets paid for their actions and input to the publisher creating a sense of purpose for the traffic user and to discover new projects to associate with.

Product/Service:

Connect the users directly for payment to take actions for visiting interesting sites and answering a multiple-choice question to identify first impressions. By combining both services, publishers get traffic and first impression feedback for an equal price to cost model to traditional PPC services.

Have you talked to people about what you're making? Do people want it and do you have examples of this?

Yes, url owners want traffic where people pay attention and stay on their site. CC does that at the same cost per acquisition to traditional PPC advertising models. Traditional models don't engage the user's attention.

Market

What is the target market or end user in mind for this project?

Target Customer:

URL owners who spend on average 10K USD on advertising a month. We will first target Dapps and blockchain businesses followed by traditional companies. We will also target Dapp users at the beginning followed by non-Dapp users for an easy onboarding experience.

What are the alternatives or competitors to this project?

One Direct Competitor (dogeclick.com) who does the same click to view through a timer with excellent results (PPC model). However, they do not operate on Ethereum and have no crowdsourcing element for the publishers. In addition, it only functions as a Telegram Bot, while Crowdclick will utilize both (progressive website interface and Telegram) at the start.

This also makes us have a 2nd mover advantage, which is valuable as the groundwork was already laid out by Dogeclick and we can build upon that.

Indirect Competitors such as Coinbase Earn & Usability Hub, focus on education and quality assurance feedback for projects. However, all user interaction is done on Coinbase Earn and Usability Hub, not on the project’s website. Having the user do education or feedback on the publisher's URL website is our main advantage.

PPC sites were popular in the 90’s and are still around today, but less intuitive. Combining quantitative feedback into the PPC model enhances the direct needs of the publisher “killing two birds with one stone” at a lucrative pricing rate for a two in one system.

How will this project get users? If your project is the type that faces a chicken-and-egg problem in the sense that it won't be attractive to users until it has a lot of users (e.g. a marketplace), how will you overcome that?

Our goal is to acquire a $5k marketing budget that will be used for publishers to try CC by getting free 10 USD in ETH. This will result in 500 publishers able to try CC at no cost. We believe a high % will keep using as customers. In order to receive the $10 USD in ETH, the publisher needs to fill out a task, and submit a request for the free trial. This will initiate the smart contract's faucet functionality which deposits the funds in connection with the project's public key. Therefore the action is only a deposit, and the publisher can't withdraw. This is based on Paypal's successful go-to-market strategy where they gave 10 USD to each person that created an account.

As for the users, we will be doing promotions from both Crowdholding.com and Matic Network's large communities. We will also be posting on Crypto forums utilizing growth hacking techniques. If accepted in Aragon's grant program, we plan to be a part of your governance system in order to promote and work with the community of users who engages with CC.

Legal

Will you be using an Aragon DAO for operating this project and receiving the funds? Yes/No

Yes, this is a no brainer.

Are any of the project team members covered by non-competes or intellectual property agreements that overlap with your project? If so, please explain.

No

Aragon

Why do you think Aragon is a good fit for this project?

We are a decentralized Web 3.0 Dapp which fits perfectly with the use of your governance system.

Are there any existing Aragon projects that are similar or complementary to your project?

Not that we have found.

Funding

How much money are you requesting as a grant? (the maximum grant size we provide is $150k in USD value)

Marketing: $5K Team: $10K (our team are freelancers, thus allows us to focus our time building CC to help pay for cost of living) Development tools (hosting, dev testing environment other tools): $5K Total: $20K

Have you already received any grants or funds from 3rd parties? If yes, how much?

Yes, we are in phase 3 of an $8.5K grant from Matic Network.

Are you applying for funding to any other DAO platforms or grant programs? If so, that is not a problem as it increases the likelihood of your success, but it's important that we can take that into consideration if your project relies on multiple grants.

Yes, we have applied to Binance Fellows, RSK & Maker DAO, but have not heard back from them.

How do you plan to deploy grant funds? (split between research/development/marketing/etc)

We would coordinate the funds in phases as agreed upon from specific milestones from our development. When we achieve these milestones we would unlock a portion of the grant. This would be discussed and organized if considered in your program.

What is your expected monthly burn rate?

Right now the team works as freelancers and we dedicate our free time building this project. The whole team wants to go full time. However, until we receive investment or a significant grant, we need to continue building part-time, while maintaining our other freelance gigs to pay for our monthly cost of living.

Technically our burn rate is 30 USD a month from the server costs. With the team going full time, we are looking at $7K (4 people) in salary a month, and additional 2K for dev tools/marketing. That would result in a burn rate of $9K a month.

Do you think this project will require additional funds once you have depleted the grant funds? If so, why? Where do you plan on acquiring further funding?

With the $20K amount, we are requesting it will get our live MVP rolling with the first revenue being generated. We expect to then be receiving a seed round from the success of the product's use case.

Roadmap

How long do you plan on working on this project before shipping?

At the current rate of building the product during our free time, we expect to launch on main net in June this year. If we go full time (right now) we would have the product ready in April.

What are the key milestones you have to accomplish before you can ship a production-ready product to users?

You can view our milestones via our user story mapping document: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1eqrONpiEjzR6-w4jvRaNNzEmWNcJn5clojrKgz1jed0/edit?usp=sharing

Notes

Is there anything else you would like to share or ask us?

Thanks for reaching out. This is cool, but it's not directly related to Aragon. As such, it is not a good fit for Nest.

eclime commented 4 years ago

I see now. I should have done more of a review with your NEST program. I was thinking you guys were at the stage to add Dapps to utilize your governance system. Will make sure to keep following you guys in order to see if it makes sense for CC in the future to use your product.

All the best,

Ethan
