Aragon Nest Proposal: Bitcerti academic certificates over blockchain to reduce TAT

Abstract

Paper certificates are easier to forge,requires significant human resource for claims, expensive to produce, cannot record exact time, cannot be revoked and consumes time to verify. Even digital certificates without digital signatures are easier to forge,third party controls the cost of certificates,no universal standard for recording certificates,no intrinsic value in case of registry failure, and prone to hacks. Generate immutable and independently verifiable academic records using blockchain. Tamper-proof issuance, verification and sharing of academic records with no reliance on third party.

Bitcerti creates tamper-proof , permanent certificates without relying on third party which can be verified for free of cost.

Deliverables

  1. Backend development for connecting various major blockchain infrastructures.(Public and Private Both).
  2. WEB UI for allowing public institutions to register and start issuing certificates.
  3. Wallet for recipient to show and verify academic certificate.

Grant size

Funding: Up to $100k in ETH, split into chunks paid out over achieved deliverables.

Success reward: Up to $50k in ANT, given out when all deliverables are ready.

Development timeline

The development timeline will be the following one in regards to each deliverable:

  1. April 2018 Backend Development
  2. May 2018 Product POC with various UNI and Colleges and Online Course Providers.
  3. June 2018 First phase of the product launched in public beta.

Hi @maektwain Thanks a lot for submitting your proposal. Immutable and independently verifiable academic records is an interesting use case for blockchains. However, we think this project is not a fit for nest. The program is focused in funding the building of dev tools key for the success of Aragon and/or Ethereum. Those tools must be open source. Also, it seems that you are going to monetize the service. Nest doesn't fund startups. Thus, your proposal is not a candidate for funding this time. If in the future you are working on something that is a fit for the program, do not hesitate to apply again! We appreciate your participation very much.
