Hi @lyricalpolymath! We are very happy to see this proposal. User experience has always been a fundamental part of the tools we are building at Aragon. UX is key for mass adoption and we need to concentrate efforts to improve the UX of the Ethereum and DApps ecosystems. Also, you are putting together a strong team. Thus, we have decided to approve the proposal!
Now we move to the second part of the application which is the request for funding. Here is a guide to submit such request. In the second part of the application we review in detail the PoC/whitepaper, roadmap, deliverables, team, and the possible connections with the other two grant proposals mentioned. We also determine if the funds requested make sense and take the final decision on whether to move forward and fund the project.
We look forward to reviewing the second part of the application :)
Hi @mariapao, thanks 😄 to save on time, do you suggest us to present the whole budget we already have or to reformulate for the part that we would be asking Aragon? thanks
@lyricalpolymath it would be great if you could reformulate the part that you would be requesting from Nest :)
Closing as no longer requires attention.
Aragon Nest Proposal: Web3 Design System
Abstract
The "Web3 Design System" project proposes to create open source tools to accelerate the adoption and development of the distributed web and user friendly experiences, through the following elements:
1 - a "Web3 Design Language": that will research and consolidate a series of guidelines and Design Principles, (similar to Google's Material Design minus the styling suggestions), focused around the specific UX needs of distributed applications, as well as producing a series of proposals to map and solve some of the open-ended design challenges of this space (ie. key management, "login" patterns, asynchronicity etc).
2 - The "Web3 Design Library": a Bootstrap like library for developers to quickly develop Dapp front-ends, through simple and composable web3 specific components and UX flows, that automatically implement the Web3 Design Principles and the other UX guidelines defined by the research for the Web3 Design Language.
Both are an extension and continuation of the work started with the publication of the Web3 Design Principles and the discussions the community has had around the need for more UX Design in this space since after Edcon and the UX Unconference held in Toronto in May 2018.
a more extensive proposal document can be found here https://drive.google.com/file/d/1k-nDrXrN4O6dJ08wFSk-edT-JbG13LF4/
Possible connections with 2 other proposals for grants
Aragon Nest Proposal: radspec a tool for making Ethereum transactions readable: making transactions readable is a UX problem that has already been manifested by the community and Radspec as a tool will be taken into consideration and probably extended with other tools that the content designer and front-end developer can control even after the smart contracts are deployed
Aragon Nest proposal: DAOs and the interaction with the physical world : our group doesn’t have yet a legal structure and we were thinking of creating an open organization, a Design Dao, that can receive grants and emit invoices in the real world and allow various designers to associate with the group and produce their projects via the open participation in the Design Dao itself.

Grant size
We are proposing a co-funding of the project with another granting organization (grant not confirmed yet but in final stages) up to the amount that you are willing to grant. in the full grant document you have a detailed view of the budget estimate for the project and what the funds will be used for.
Therefore per your NEST guidelines we are asking for 100-150.000 $ in ETH for operative costs of the research and development +Success reward: 50.000$ in ANT when the deliverables are ready
Application requirements

where it all started: Web3 Design Principles article on medium and twitter summary
discuss conflux forum: where the community is gathering to discuss the most important UX problems in the space and more
an example of objective heuristics we use when reasoning about how to compare UX flows in different dapps
Development timeline
in the full grant document you have a detailed timeline which we summarise here. (The project horizon was scaled down from 1 year to 6 months while refining the proposal for ECF)
DESR - Design Research Phase - 3-5 months performing the interviews and extracting the insights
DEVR - Development Research Phase - 2-3 months experimenting and identifying the architecture for the components library
DEVL - Component Design and Development ≈2 months exact timeline will be defined at the end of the DESR and DEVR phases design and development of some of the identified components
COMS - Communications and Community Participation ≈over the whole project progressively sharing with the community the results of the research
