Webmin stopped working #401

Installed fresh version of rtinst on a fresh raspbian. All worked fine. This morning tried to fire up Webmon and got a 502 from nginx. SSH'd into the box and /etc/init.d/webmin start and stop without messages. 502 still there. Tried http://MYIP/webmin which comes up with an ugly web page with title Webmin 1.900 on rip (Rasbian Linux 9) but otherwise does not show much save for a few nonfunctional text links. htop does not show memory/filesystems problems- rutorrent/rtorrent work fine. what can I try? Thank you

Not sure what's going on but after issuing a : sudo systemctl restart nginx webmin is working again. Wonder what's different than with /etc/init.d/webmin restart Thanks.
