I would like to publish VHDL code (http://artutkia.com/?page_id=220) but this language is not supported. Any plan fot this ?

No, but happy to take pull requests 😎

Never coded in PHP. I'm unable to produce anything usefull for the desired VHDL highlighter. Sorry for that !

I'll try to find time and learn the syntax this weekend

I found mention of the syntax here: https://webdocs.cs.ualberta.ca/~amaral/courses/329/labs/VHDL_Reference.html It seems this language is used mainly in research?

Hello Aram,

VHDL is used to describe Hardware. The competitor langages are Verilog and SystemC.

VHDL was formely developped by he US DoD (Department of Defense) to support large ASCI's documentation.

It eventually became a standard.

Nowdays it is synthetisable so that permits to program FPGA's as well as to specify ASIC's to silicon foundries.

The syntax is close from ADA's because DoD attempted to make some resuse of the ADA langagee they had developped some few years before VHDL.

I have seen that the Crayon Highlighter supports ADA. Maybe this proximity between ADA and VHDL could help to develop the highlighter for VHDL.

Regards,

Jean-Paul
