While Drupal 7 will probably be supported for several years yet, it's probably best to get an early start on this.

Fortunately, this module does its own thing and doesn't interface with too many APIs (especially not Fields and Views), so it's pretty straight-forward:

This site uses XBBCode, which hasn't been ported yet, so I also need to convince its maintainer to get off his ass and--- oh right.

Branched 7.x and 8.x, default branch set to 7.x.

master may be removed eventually, but will remain stagnant for now.
