This is a ticket to record notes from the first meeting about the KAMBE project, 29 March 23, Laurel and Katie.
Katie leaves for the field on 20 May, her students a few days later.
3.5 week season, exclusively excavation (unless they really have more time than expected, in which case some pedestrian survey possible but she doesn't expect it)
Team of 6
Specialist analysis done post-season, everything stored in Cyprus
Bulk ceramic analysis will take place during the season but no sherd-level recording
3 trenches at once (probably the limit given team size)
There is one season of legacy data from 2019. In the lab they digitized their paper records. Excel file in the KAMBE shared drive has those data, and it would be good to get those into their Kiosk before they go.
They want to run a VM. Katie's computer, which she will use, is a Dell PC (Latitude with i7 core and 16 gb ram.
They will likely but not certainly have an RTK out with them, but to use mostly as a total station. Most of their elevations and drawing will be done old-school, off lines.
They do keep an ESRI GIS. The broad landscape survey Katie did for her dissertation work was when she found this site, and she expects to move on from this site relatively soon to work on other rural Cypriot sites.
They do have the internet quite decently at home.
Katie's project is a small one and independent but she's part of a much larger structure (KAMBE is the overall one) that includes Sturt Manning and Kevin Fisher.
Katie is shopping on Amazon now for her VM and related hardware. We have in the drive the Excel sheets. She and I will meet again for concordance in the next couple of weeks depending on her schedule.
