Convert ppt-gui into source package

archeos/ppt-gui must be converted into a source (python) package. See http://wiki.debian.org/Python/Packaging for generic instrucions about pyhton packaging.

Ok I've check this afternoon.

Here is the situation in Caesar :

• ppt-gui is a python gui for ppt (osm-bundler) . So ppt-gui package depends (among others) on ppt
• ppt package is a set of python scripts which creates a portable and rich photogrammetric pipeline. It also comes with his own version of:
  • A free SIFT implementation (VLFeat)
  • Bundler (bundle ajustement)
  • CMVS and PMVS (dense reconstruction)
• In the repos, we can also find independents package of bundler and cmvs/pmvs.

What should we do ?

So, I must reiterate my proposal of breaking ppt into multiple (source) packages (#57), of course with proper dependencies on each other:

• VLFeat (work in progress https://github.com/archeos/vlfeat)
• Bundler (initial version is finished)
• CMVS/PMVS (initial version is finished)
• ppt (packaging not yet started - Python only)
• ppt-gui (packaging not yet started - Python only)

In this configuration we should avoid multiple versions of bundler, pmvs, cmvs in different package but also keep modularity. We should win in term of sustainability and portability....

What's your opinion ?

Here is an update of this issue

• VLfeat packaging is done. It's minimalist for now, but it fits perfectly for integration with PPT
• Bundler is also ok. Don't hesitate to give feedback about this minor issue: archeos/bundler-archeos#3
• cmvs + pmvs2 packaging is done
• archeos/ppt-archeos is for now an empty shell (initial debian files, nothing serious) a first package will be released this week end (hopefully). Could you please report possible issues/improvements for this package in the bug tracker?
• Nothing was started on ppt-gui. It would be nice to create an upstream repo of ppt-gui (not pacakged) to work on or report new features.

All is done and @fabfurnari uploaded all these packages on theodoric repo today! I think we can close the issue.
