mencoder crashes after a couple of seconds of playing

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. play mkv file with mencoder or avisynth/mencoder

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
the movie to play entirely
instead, the movie plays for a while then the program crashes

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
1.02.1, vista (btw, happens with the past 3 versions as well)

If you are transcoding a media file, which engine are you using (mencoder, 
avisynth/mencoder, tsmuxer?)
mencoder

If the media file is in error (or does not play flawlessly), what are the 
codec informations of this file (you can use following program: 
mediainfo.sourceforge.net) ? 
happens with any mkv file

Please provide any additional information below and PLEASE JOIN debug.log 
file !!

okay, i think i figured it out

i installed ps3mediaserver 1.02.1
then i installed avisynth 2.57
then i installed klite codec pack

whenever i would choose to transcode an mkv file with mencoder, ffdshow video 
decoder would pop up on my comp for some reason, i think this is what was 
causing it 
to crash

after uninstalling everything, i repeated the installations above except for 
klite, 
now the transcoding works fine without any crashing

mencoder should be not concerned by any codec pack you might install (or maybe

wrong)
about K-lite, that's why I recommend cccp project :)
