hide video shares under music and vise versa

enhancement request:

not sure if its possible, but is there anyway to control what is seen under
each media section in the ps3 menu? for example i have a few folders shared
in ps3mediaserver - TV1, TV2, XviD, DVDR, x264, MP3 and would like to only
see the MP3 folder under music, and only video related folders under videos.

I have a feeling the ps3 wont let you, but i thought it was worth an ask.

Also the ability to combine shares into single folders would be nice, ie -
TV1, and TV2 could be combined to create just 'TV' and allow all shows to
be browsable alphabetically (xbmc allows this)

you're right, Sony wont let you :)
unlike media items, folders have no media type defined. So any given folder 
will 
appears in the 3 views
