[Feature Request] Font toolbar #408

It would be great to have a "Font" toolbar when editing text within an element, rather than having to rely on the Edit-->Font, Edit-->Font color, Edit-->Text alignment and Edit-->Text position menu items. Something similar to what you see in most rich text editors.

Have you tried using the Properties window when an object is selected?

I’m familiar with the Properties window but there is no bold, italics, underline, etc. options. It seems that whatever changes I make under the Font dropdown (by going to Preferences…) modifies the font for more than just the single control I have selected. Am I just missing something?

Bold, italics, etc is set when opening the Font dialog when you click the main Font button (not the down arrow reveal)

The setting in Preferences sets the default font for all elements.

Ahhh… thanks! I don’t know why I didn’t pick up on that. I figured that out for the colors just didn’t think about it (for some reason) for the fonts.

In response to your other message, I’ve read through most of the manual but must have missed this nuance.

That said, I’d still love to see a “Font”, “Alignment”, etc. toolbar just so the app looks and acts like other applications I’m used to using in the Windows/Mac world (i.e. for a consistent user experience). ☺

I think I understand the request (in fact I though about something similar some days ago).

The main point is that while modelling user sometime want a simple way to switch the font to bold and/or italic. Asof today the only option is to select the object, go to the Properties view, then the Appearance tab, then clic on the font button, select the new font (in fact the same as previous with only bold or italic added/removed), then OK. This is a long way to do things that are otherwise done using a single clic on a "[B]" icon on a (font) toolbar or a CTRL+B shortcut on other software.

So I guess the request can be summarized by: Can we add a single clic access to Bold, Italic, Underline font switches.
