Hi guys!
This is great!. I indeed tried to add this functionality but, for some unknown reason, I couldn't get the intermediate values given by Meeus, and I ditched it.
Please give me some time to study your files before merging them.
Best regards and thanks,
Dago
Dear Mr. Salazar,
We are a group of four students working on a student aerospace engineering research project, with the topic of calculating phenomena of the Galilean Moons of Jupiter. Our team consists of four dual students studying at the DHBW Ravensburg and is led by our professor Thomas Mannchen.
During our research we found the book “Astronomical Algorithms” written by Jean Meeus.
On this occasion we also found your helpful and great Python repository on GitHub handling many of the described algorithms from the book. Unfortunately, the calculation of the position of the Galilean Moons was not yet implemented in your repository.
So we implemented the needed algorithm ourselves based on the book “Astronomical Algorithms”. Thereby we tried to stay as close as possible to your approach. In order to contribute to the repository we now want to get permission to push our software implementation, including the calculation of the position of the Galilean Moons. As required we added the test functions for all our methods and checked the code for PEP8 compliance. Furthermore, we created the needed rst-files which can be used to generate the html documentation.
The following files are therefore added or modified:
ex-JupiterMoons.rst (added) JupiterMoons.py (added) test_jupiterMoons.py (added) JupiterMoons.rst (added) index.rst (modified)
We would appreciate the opportunity to contribute our code to your repository. We are looking forward to your response.
Kind Regards,
Sophie Scholz, Vittorio Serra, Sebastian Veigl, Michael Lutz
