Problem: Documentation of transfering derivatives is unclear #669

Version of the documentation 1.9+

Page (and section, if applicable) where the issue occurs https://www.archivematica.org/en/docs/archivematica-1.9/user-manual/transfer/transfer/#transfer-derivatives https://www.archivematica.org/en/docs/archivematica-1.9/user-manual/ingest/manual-normalization/#manual-norm

Description of the issue

  1. It is not clear whats the differences between sending access derivatives in folder manualNormalization/access and in folder access.
  2. It is unclear which processing configuration should be used in Normalization microservice for the different alternatives.
  3. If you want to transfer access derivatives in a bag, there is little or no documentation on how to do that.

Suggested fix Clearly state the differences, and when to choose either way. Or maybe better - support only one way to do it.

@ThomasEdvardsen there have been a few documentation changes that address this. Speaking specifically to your points:

  1. The difference between sending access derivatives in a manualNormalization/access folder vs. just the access folder is just a streamlining of the workflow - I'm not sure why there are two ways to do it, but there are. Hopefully that is clear now on the Transfer page.

  2. The updated instructions on the manual normalization page don't specifically state which normalization rules users should choose, as the choice will be specific to the user's circumstances. However, I think that the instructions there are a lot more clear than before.

  3. How to handle manually-normalized derivatives inside bags still needs to be written up! It's a tricky one. I will be working on this now.
