Line management responsibilities band 7 #22

The Responsibility Matrix only shows line management as a responsibility for band 8a and above. Will band 7 developers be able to take on line management responsibilities? Will any band 7 developers already having line management responsibilities be able to continue in that role? If yes to either of the above, what complications would that create?

The present situation has arisen because in the past we permitted some band 7 developers to have line management responsibility as a development opportunity.

As far as I am aware there is no requirement for band 7 staff to have line management responsibility.

Proposed action:

Decide whether we should continue to allow some band 7 staff to line manage, or whether we should return to a more standard approach.
If the former, then consider what would be the consequences of this for TWWW.

I have no problem with band 7's line managing and the earlier, with support, we expose people to this the more experience they will have. In comparison a band 7 BNOD person or a ward sister line manages a large number of staff.
