Adds comments, reduces redundant code, and keeps most of the functionality

Hey man, it's your repo, lol. You decide what goes in and out. Looks good to me, at least so far. I tested the functionality and it is unfortunately not working. I do think I have a workaround, though. I'll make another PR if you want to merge this one into yours.
