Should I add additional information based on what we discussed yesterday? About studying, for example, whether high sustained temperatures could cause structural damage? Or should the details be reserved for the full paper later?

Thanks for merging - I didn't get around to completing my edits. All of my comments are here (most handled by the edits you've merged, but some not). Leave the part about the accidents out of this for now, but please correct the final paragraph, based on discussed suggestions regarding strategy.)
