And of course, the checklist that @Dayvis7 knows by heart! http://arfc.github.io/manual/guides/writing/checklist/
$^{239}Pu$
. Never $Pu-239$ or plutonium-239.Figure 1
and Table 1.
They should be capitalized and not abbreviated (not fig. 1
or figure 1
.)$[-]$
.$\dot{m}$
is better than $m_f$
which is superior to $m_{flow}$
.m
is better than mass
and \ksi
is better than one_time_use_variable
.align
environment. Align them at the =
sign.align
environment as well, not buried in paragraphs.Here’s an example of an equation:
The line is defined as
\begin{align}
y&=mx + b
\intertext{where}
y&= \mbox{ height of the line, also known as rise [m]}\nonumber\\
m&= \mbox{ slope [-]}\nonumber\\
x&=\mbox{ independent parameter, known as run [m]}\nonumber\\
b&= \mbox{ y intercept [m].}
\end{align}
@Dayvis7 @npanczyk I made some of the changes you requested. It would be great if you guys could go over it one more time before I request @katyhuff's review. I've attached the updated document below.
Also, keep in mind that equation formatting will not be preserved if you copy and paste it into a google doc.
@samgdotson, I read over the new document and it looks great! I left a couple notes, but overall seems very well organized, easy to follow, and impactful, especially from the perspective of someone with limited knowledge on the topic (i.e. it followed the "ten simple rules" very well). It did get a little bit confusing for me around line 215, so that would be my only desired clarification. Also, please let me know if any of my notes are confusing! 0.2-DRAFT_dotson_forecasting_paper (1).pdf
@Dayvis7 @npanczyk Attached is the most recent version of the paper. The things that have changed the most are the results and discussion sections.
@samgdotson I'll work on getting this back to you by Monday night, possibly earlier. Is there anything you want me to look out for in particular?
0.3.-DRAFT_dotson_forecasting_paper_edits.pdf
@samgdotson Change of plans, I decided this was much more interesting than my dynamics homework. Overall, looks pretty awesome! Just recommended some changes to active voice and other small comments, per writing checklist. Let me know if you want me to look back over anything or if any of my comments are unclear.
All comments have been addressed. Closing this issue.
Thanks @npanczyk and @Dayvis7!
