Yes, I'm aware of the RTE issues too. It would bypass that completely, though it would still involve a lot of work. I just happened to be looking at Google's APIs recently and thought that might be a head start for this issue.

We would like as an alternative to pasting in a story to be able to post in the URL for a Google Docs file and have it imported as the contents of the story. (This is a good intermediate step towards handling Word files, since these can be opened in Google Docs and then sent.)
