editing works creates a NEW record for the edited work

A new record with the modified data is created in the database, the original record remains (unchanged) in the database.

Editing should work the way we want it to as of r119. (Instead of going through the preview/post actions, the preview mode for editing just displays the data via a partial and doesn't save the data until the user hits "Update".)
