Issue with Loading Mokuro HTML Files in jidoujisho #372

Open VioletRaven opened 4 months ago

VioletRaven commented 4 months ago

Hello there and thank you a lot for this great software!

Lately, I have not been able to load Mokuro HTML files in the jidoujisho app. Previously, I could paste the URL of the HTML file processed by Mokuro that can be found on https://www.mokuro.moe/manga/, and the reader would function as expected. Now, attempting to do the same results in the reader not working without any clear error message. Just showing a "null" message...

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Open jidoujisho on my notebook.
  2. Navigate to the section where I can paste the URL of the Mokuro HTML file.
  3. Paste the URL and attempt to load the manga.

Expected Behavior

The manga processed by Mokuro should load in the jidoujisho reader, allowing for reading and dictionary lookups as before.

Actual Behavior

The manga does not load, and no error message is provided, leaving the cause of the failure unclear.

Environment

Additional Context

This issue started occurring without any changes to my usual process of loading Mokuro HTML files into jidoujisho. I have tried multiple versions of jidoujisho to rule out a version-specific issue but to no avail.

In addition to this problem I can't find a way to read local mokuro files. I rely on this functionality for language learning and would greatly appreciate any insights or solutions to restore the app's functionality.

Cheers, Andrea

@VioletRaven I believe back in Mar 14 2024, mokuro.moe server was down for a few weeks. It is back up now, and I can confirm on version 2.9.0 that it now works as expected.

By the way, to read local Mokuro HTML files, you will also need to import their associated image and _ocr folder(s). Note that they need to be in the same directory.

Thank you for your answer, you guys are my heroes!

The mokuro.moe server is frequently down, which is why I wanted to upload my Mokuro files directly to my phone. I'll give that a try! I haven't converted any files myself yet, but it seems doable. I was also wondering if I could just download some manga from the mokuro.moe website, I guess this is also doable. Should I use any particular files storage app on my phone that you would recommend?

Ciao

@VioletRaven,

Processing your raw image files to Mokuro format shouldn't be too difficult. I haven't tried downloading from mokuro.moe though, but it seems possible.

Anyways, if you want a file manager better than your default one, I recommend Material Files. It's FOSS and sleek! Though your default file manager should still do the trick too.

I'll give it a try!

Thank you :)

@VioletRaven

Once you've confirmed it works, don't forget to mark this issue as closed :wink:
