Description

The current branch 2.0.0 is confusing and messy, making it difficult to know what needs to be done and where work is currently happening. Cleaning up this branch will make it easier to track progress and assess the status of the overall v2.0.0 release.

[x] Delete redundant folders
[x] Move background code to index.js
[x] Update deps
[x] Lint and format
