This definitely deserves to be in a debian repo
In the mean time, I just install the compile as a deb package with the checkinstall utility which will bundle the contents from "make install" Might be recommended anyway considering the rapid release situation.
I'm currently on this, will push the pkg on salsa in a later today or tomorrow.
I have pushed the initial pkg to salsa now https://salsa.debian.org/mariogrip/btop
Will get it into the new queue soon ish.

do you plan to bring up Salsa CI for it?

I don't have it planed, but it would be an idea.
Also, its now in the new queue https://ftp-master.debian.org/new/btop_1.1.3-1.html
How long does it normally take before it would show up in the stable repo? I am using snap
only for btop and am happy to be rid of it!

In stable it will take until next release (unless i backport it to stable-backports repo, i might do that), but for testing and unstable it usually takes about 1-2 months (the new queue is slow), but xmas was around so it might take a bit longer.
If you can't wait, like I recommended before, you can always compile it yourself (pretty easy as far as compiling apps are concerned) and install it as a debian package with the checkinstall app.
It's in debian unstable
now! :champagne:

I'll upload 1.2.2 tomorrow, and it should enter testing
in about 5 days.

If I am on bullseye and want to install btop from the testing repo using apt, how can I do it? It's been a while since I needed to do this...

Best way is to use backports, i did a upload to debian backports new queue yesterday [0], so it will land in backports in some days (5 days ish). Then you can install it from there :)
Here is some instructions on how to install from backports: https://backports.debian.org/Instructions/

try packages.debian.org/ and manually download it
@aristocratos this is done so this can be closed
Hello,
I'd like to bump this as the currently available package on Debian is more than a year and a half old.
Thanks

I just pushed an update 3 days ago (unstable and soon testing) :) https://tracker.debian.org/pkg/btop
will also push to backports
@mariogrip Note that there will likely be a new release pretty soon, to fix #705
Hello, Any news ? Thanks
So, it looks like this won't happen. I switched from htop to glances instead.
would be amazing, if Debian would include
btop
inside it's repository.Since it's small CLI package, I believe it's doable, just needs a maintainer.
Would be someone interested to package this SW for Debian? I would personally love to prepare package, but currently no available time for that, if no-one volunteers, I will create the package in distant future.
Thank you
