[BUG] No core temps shown on Intel Mac after upgrading to Sonoma #692

Open IncPlusPlus opened 11 months ago

IncPlusPlus commented 11 months ago

Describe the bug

After upgrading to macOS Sonoma, all the core temps read -1. The package temp still works. When looking to see if anyone else had had this issue, I discovered #168. I'm not too sure if the cause is the same in my case. Please let me know if there's any additional info I can provide to help!

To Reproduce

  1. Install btop
  2. Upgrade from Ventura to Sonoma
  3. Check the core temperatures in btop

Expected behavior

The core temps should display the actual values.

Side note

I've had btop installed for a while now. About two weeks ago, it started segfaulting at startup. I hadn't made any changes that I know of that would've caused it. I tried reinstalling but the issue persisted so I gave up. Today, I upgraded my (Intel) 2020 MacBook Pro to macOS Sonoma (14.2). Out of curiosity, I tried running btop to see if it would still segfault and fail to start. After the OS upgrade, btop has magically started working again! However, it now displays all the core temps at -1. As much as I wish it were true, there's no way my CPU is that cool. But hey, I'll trade btop not working at all for it working without showing core temps!
