I have a Sony TV that isn't running Android TV, but it does have the settings you outlined in the plugin (Remote Start and Preshare Key). I was successfully able to add the TV in HomeKit but its not very stable. I'm able to turn off the TV, initiate the TV menu and use the control center remote to move through the menus. I can also change inputs. But if I turn the TV off and attempt to turn it back on, the TV doesn't respond. Unfortunately with the last update Homebridge isn't breaking and returning any errors. So are these issues related to the infancy of the plugin, or the fact that I'm attempting to run this on an older TV?

I've only tried this on Android Bravia TV (xd93). Did you use any other plug-in to turn on/off the TV via homebridge before this?

QandnotU commented 5 years ago

I had the Harmony remote plugin well over a year ago, that I had removed. Let me play with this a little more and see if I can break it and get some useful logs.

Ok feel free to submit any PR's if you need something more to be output to the logs.

Hi, @QandnotU your TV doesn't have an Android but also can access with which plugin? My TV is KD-55X7000E it's based Linux OS, I can't find the key. Is there any way access to remote with HomeBridge plugin?

QandnotU commented 5 years ago

@luvmex I’m having 95% success using this plugin. But my version of the OS (not Android) does have the ability to enable Remote Start and set a Preshare Key. Mine is a 2014 model. Strangely enough, I have a newer 4K Sony TV (x720E, not Android) at the office and those settings aren’t there.

@arnif here is a log file on issues I'm running into.

logfile.log

Scenario 1: The TV was on when I started HomeBridge. Changing inputs and browsing the TV menu all good. Turned off TV with HomeKit. TV turns off, Sony TV tile updates accordantly. Then I go to Turn the TV on with HomeKit...and it spins and then eventually times out. If I turn the TV back on manually, I can just tap the tile and it will get back in sync.

If I use Apple TV to sleep, everything turns off, including the TV. but the status of Sony TV tile stays On and then gets stuck on Updating. Then goes to no Response.

Scenario 2: If I start Homebridge with the TV off, my Homebridge devices are stuck on updating. I then power on TV by waking the Apple TV, eventually my Homebridge tiles light up. But the Sony TV tile shows "Off". I can tap and then it goes back in sync.

@QandnotU Thanks, I will try that again cause mine are also not Android version, another plugin will got "no responded", However, have you already update to the iOS12.2?

And which did you use before iOS 12.2?

QandnotU commented 5 years ago

@luvmex I am on 12.2. I have't attempted to do anything with my Sony TV HomeKit related prior to this.
